Constructed of gilded silver with multi coloured enamels, on a fixed loop and swivel ring for suspension from a period original blue neck ribbon, the obverse consisting of a blue enameled Cross Patte with a red enameled anchor superimposed on the badge, with a central medallion inscribed MN (Merito Naval) and surrounded by a ring of blue enamels inscribed Honor, Virtuo, Valor, in capitalized
