Instituted 8 November 1812 by King Maximilian I Joseph. (1871 1918 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension, the obverse bearing a raised and leftward facing profile of King Maximilian I Joseph, circumscribed by name and title in Latin, the reverse bearing a wreathed inscription of OB MILITES INTER PROELIA ET ARTE ET VIRTUTE SERVATOS (FOR RESCUE CARRIED OUT WITH SKILL AND COURAGE IN WAR), the
