He worked tor five years in South China and fifteen years in West China. In 1950 he was imprisoned by the Communists and remained in prison for almost two years. Between interrogations by his captors Mr. Stockwell found time to write four manuscripts: a volume of religious poetry, a diary, a study of the Gospel of St. John, and Meditations from a Prison Cell.
